James H. Geibel passed away at the age of 70 in Somerville, Alabama on Saturday, March 23, 2019. A Chicago native, Jim led a life of service. During his early professional life as a member of the U.S. Army, Jim served at Ft. Holabird’s U.S. Army Intelligence School in Baltimore, Maryland. He followed this military service with a long career as a police officer when, after a time with the Norristown, Pennsylvania Police Department, he returned to the Baltimore area and served with the Baltimore County Police Department for twenty years. He retired from the police force as Baltimore County’s senior Hazardous Devices Technician. Following his career as a police officer, Jim joined the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms as a Program Analyst/Hazardous Devices Technician. He retired from government service in 2016.
Jim was passionate about military ordnance and explosives and was considered to be an expert in the field by colleagues around the world. He enjoyed reading, keeping in contact with friends and family online, mowing the lawn on his tractor, and tinkering with his many toys and collectibles.
